Configure DHCP on Windows Server Part 2   Dynamic Host Configuration protocol (DHCP) is a networking protocol for dynamically assigning IP addresses to each host on your organizations network. The DHCP makes it easier to manage IP addresses. In a network without DHCP, you must manually assign IP addresses which can be very cumbersome and stressful in a massive organization. Overall, DHCP simplifies configuration Management, increases scalability, streamlines IP address management and makes Network troubleshooting easier. A basic Knowledge of Networking is required to accurately setup the Scope. In This tutorial, I used a Class C IP 192. 168. 70. 0  /29 Subnet mask 255. 255. 255. 248 I used the 7th subnet range which ranges from 192.168.70.48 to 192.168.70.55 where 192.168.70.48 is my network IP and 192.168.70.55 is my broadcast IP. The steps will offer pictorial representation for what is being done. Step 1: Picture showing DHCP has already been installed.       Step 2 Next, right click on DHCP on dashboard and select DHCP manager   Step 3 Then, right click on Ipv4 and select new scope   STEP 4 Insert the Scope Name and Description to identify the purpose of the scope   STEP 5 Insert Start IP, End IP, length and Subnet Mask. Importantly, this is where the knowledge of networking is pivotal.”     STEP 6 After that, add any Excluded IPs and click Next. Ensure you read the instructions carefully as you proceed.   STEP 7 Configure the Lease Duration by reading the description provided and entering the appropriate time.   STEP 7 (Continued) You can choose to configure most common DHCP options now or later. Alternatively, you may configure them after scope creation.   STEP 8 Add the Default Gateway for the network.   STEP 9 Next, insert the Parent Domain and DNS Server details.   STEP 10 Proceed to the next configuration screen.   STEP 11 The scope is activated immediately after configuration.   STEP 12 Installation is now complete.   STEP 13 This final screen confirms that the scope has been successfully created and activated. Here’s a quick breakdown: Resource Group: Think of it as a folder to keep your related Azure resources together, simplifying management, access, and billing. Without DHCP, administrators would need to manually configure IP addresses for every device — a time‑consuming and error‑prone process, especially in large organizations. DHCP simplifies configuration management, improves scalability, streamlines IP address allocation, and makes network troubleshooting easier. This guide walks you through: Installing the DHCP Server role Understanding the IP addressing used in the example Preparing for DHCP scope creation   Understanding the IP Addressing Used For this demonstration, the following Class C network was used: Network: 192.168.70.0 /29 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.248 Subnet Range Used: 7th subnet Usable IP Range: 192.168.70.49 – 192.168.70.54 Network Address: 192.168.70.48 Broadcast Address: 192.168.70.55 A basic understanding of subnetting is recommended before configuring DHCP scopes. Step 1–10 Use Server Manager → Add Roles and Features to install the DHCP Server role. Proceed through the wizard, confirming selections until installation begins 1: Click on Add roles and Features to begin the installation process. Next, proceed to the following screen   2: Select DHCP Server from the list of roles. After that, click Next to continue.   3: Review the installation details. Then, confirm your selections to move forward     4: Wait for the installation to complete. Once done, click Close to exit the wizard   5: Open Server Manager to verify the DHCP role. From here, navigate to the Tools menu.       6: Click DHCP under Tools. At this point, the DHCP console should open.     7:  Click Next     8: Proceed to the next stage     9:  Click install and let it install     10 Then, you need to complete the DHCP configuration   11     Step 12–15 Additionally, Once authorization is complete, DHCP will appear on the Server Manager dashboard, confirming successful installation. 12.
